How 2 Independent Journalists And A Lawyer Held Chicago Police Accountable For Teen’s Death

These two journalists are doing exactly what their profession demands, why did the founding fathers put the fourth estate into the constitution, it was precisely to investigate and shed light on this type of aberrant, egregious, and criminal police behavior along with the coverup that followed, which became just as criminal and insidious as the original crime itself, because without investigative journalism, how much longer would brutality and corruption reside within Chicago’s police department? Investigative journalism was included in our democracy as the people’s watchdog, their presence within our political, financial, social and law enforcement sectors are necessary to keep the powers that be on the right side of the law and to ensure that transparency remains a part of the democratic process. What gives me cause for concern is that for the past several decades, it seems that our mainstream media has gone the way of corporate media, where they are more determined to frighten us then they are to investigate and root out corruption either on Wall Street, K Street, Capital Hill or defense contractors. We need to petition our lawmakers to get news orgainzations to once again set the profit mindset aside for the entertainment field and invest in investigative reporting, it may not yield a profit, but it fulfills the important duty as set forth by our constitution.
